Former Harrods employees, who allege they were subjected to “intrusive” medical examinations, are planning to file a formal complaint with the General Medical Council (GMC) against Dr. Ann Coxon, a doctor involved in the controversial tests. One ex-employee, Natacha, who has also accused Mohamed Al Fayed of sexual assault, claims the tests were “wholly unnecessary” and that confidential medical information was improperly shared within the company.
Natacha is part of the “Justice for Harrods Survivors” group, which has raised concerns about the invasive medical exams carried out during their employment. The BBC documentary and podcast, Al-Fayed: Predator at Harrods, brought these allegations to light, revealing that numerous women had been subjected to invasive sexual health tests when they started working at Harrods. Another doctor, Wendy Snell, also performed these exams but has since passed away.
The GMC has expressed concern over the allegations, stating that any potential issues regarding the doctors’ fitness to practice will be thoroughly investigated. The complaint is part of a broader effort to hold those involved accountable, as Fayed faces multiple accusations of rape and sexual assault from former employees during his ownership of Harrods between 1985 and 2010.
Since the airing of the BBC programme, more women have come forward with similar claims, further expanding the scope of the investigation. Dr. Coxon has yet to comment on the allegations.
